Ghana is understood to have signed a new lower tariff for gas transported from Nigeria on the West African Gas Pipeline, GhanaWeb has reported.

The new tariff is understood to be $60.10 per cubic metre, which is down from previous prices of $176.68/cm, although the new price does not include separate costs.

The Ghanaian authorities had deemed the old price to be uncompetitive and campaigned to lower it. The new tariff is expected to come into effect in 2019.
