China’s apparent gas consumption increased by 16.3% year on year in October, to 23.1 billion cubic metres, the National Development and Reform Commission said on Thursday.

Domestic output climbed by 8.9%, to 13.4 bcm, while imports were up by 26.6%, to 9.9 bcm. Apparent consumption for the first 10 months of 2018 rose by 18.0%, to 224.8 bcm.

Domestic output was only 6.5% higher over the period, at 129.1 bcm, while imports surged by 36.4%, to 98.5 bcm.
