India plans to back city gas and CNG expansions

India’s minister for petroleum and natural gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, has written an article in The Times of India promoting the government’s efforts to make city gas and CNG available to a greater proportion of the country.

The ninth city gas distribution bidding round was held recently and, once complete, will see city gas networks cover 35% of the country and 46% of its population.

It is expected to attract INR 700 billion ($9.9 billion) in investment.
