Japan’s Inpex is monitoring Chinese investment near the Ichthys LNG project in Australia’s Northern Territory, Takayuki Ueda, the company’s president and chief executive, told The Australian newspaper.

The plant lies near the port of Darwin, which was taken over last year by private Chinese enterprise Landbridge Group on a 99-year lease.

“We have some interest in these Chinese issues, and we are looking very closely at what is going to happen in this area,” said Ueda.
