Italy’s first LNG-fuelled ferry has been delivered to Gruppo Caronte & Tourist, a ferry company operating between Sicily and Calabria on the Italian mainland.

The 8,055-ton vessel can carry up to 1,500 passengers and 290 vehicles. The ship has a dual-fuel engine and was designed by Norway’s LMG Marin and built in Turkey’s Sefine shipyard.

A ceremony to launch the vessel will be held on Saturday.
