Spain aims to produce 70% of its power from renewables by 2030 and 100% by 2050, Spanish media have reported. The targets were outlined in Madrid’s draft climate plan, released this week.
If introduced, the plan will end fossil fuel subsidies and the issuing of permits for oil and gas infrastructure both onshore and offshore. Existing oil and gas operations will have to stop by the end of 2040.
