EU parliament formally approves new 2030 energy targets

The European Parliament formally approved revised 2030 targets for energy efficiency and renewable generation in a plenary session in Strasbourg on Tuesday.

The revised targets – which were agreed in principle by the EU institutions in June – are to increase energy efficiency in the EU by 32.5% and boost the share of renewables in the bloc’s final energy consumption by 32%.
