FAR’s Gambia well disappoints

FAR's Samo 1 well off the coast of the Gambia has not encountered commercial reserves of hydrocarbons.

Australian explorer FAR has announced that its Samo 1 well off the coast of the Gambia has not encountered commercial reserves of hydrocarbons, although the find supports the hypothesis that a working petroleum basin exists nearby.

The well, which was drilled to a depth of 3,240 metres, is the first to have been drilled in the Gambia in 40 years.
