United States-based Chesapeake Energy has agreed to acquire WildHorse, an oil and gas company with operations in southeast Texas, in a transaction valued at approximately $3.98 billion, the two companies announced on Tuesday.

The deal is expected to double Chesapeake’s adjusted oil production by 2020. Chesapeake expects to finance the cash portion of the acquisition, which is expected to be $275-400 million, through its revolving credit facility.

The deal, which is subject to approval, is expected to close in H1 2019.
