The Asia Pacific rig count was flat in September, with 44 rigs targeting gas for the third month in a row. China reduced its number of offshore rigs by one, but this was matched by an increase in Indonesia’s rig count. India and Australia remained the two most active explorers, with 18 and 16 rigs respectively. Higher oil prices could mean countries are prioritising searching for oil rather than gas.
