The world will reach a “sustainability tipping point” by 2035, marking a transition from the age of oil and gas to the age of power and renewables, Wood Mackenzie predicted in a new report released on Thursday.

The consultancy forecast solar and wind would meet nearly one-fifth of global power needs by 2035, displacing the equivalent of roughly 1 trillion cubic metres of annual gas demand.
