Four banks and investment houses have expressed interest in financing a pipeline between Cyprus and Egypt, according to a Bloomberg report.

The pipeline would transport gas from the Aphrodite field to an Egyptian LNG plant. The governments of Cyprus and Egypt signed an agreement for the project in September.

Egyptian Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Molla said in May that the pipeline would cost up to $1 billion.
