Although Western Australia (WA) is better known as a major LNG exporter, the state is seeking to capitalise on its proximity to Asia as well as its plentiful gas reserves and huge solar power potential to produce hydrogen for export. 

The latest project to hit the headlines is the A$22 billion (US$16 billion) Asian Renewable Energy Hub (AREH). The project, which is located in the north of WA, recently secured development capital from investment bank Macquarie Group. The bank is a major investor...
