AGL Energy’s proposed FSRU and associated pipeline project in Victoria on the east coast of Australia will need to undergo the state’s strongest environmental assessment process, Richard Wynne, Victoria’s minister for planning, said on Tuesday.

“While this project has great potential, it’s critical we assess its impacts thoroughly, to protect the community and the environment,” said Wynne.

The environmental effects statement will investigate the project’s impact on native vegetation, wildlife and marine life, and Aboriginal cultural heritage areas.
