The need to rebuild stocks pushed up the average ex-plant price for Chinese LNG by 7.07% in September from August, to RMB 4,238/t ($11.82/MMBtu). Fifty-one plants in Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Shandong, Henan, Shanxi and Hebei hiked their asking prices by an average of 9.77% from the previous month.

Pipeline gas and LNG transactions on the Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Exchange soared to their highest levels in the platform’s three-year history, reaching 3.33 billion cubic metres and 365,787 tons respectively in September.
