The UK government has launched a new regulator for the country’s shale industry, the Oil & Gas Authority (OGA) said in a note on Friday.
The new body, called the Shale Environmental Regulator Group (SERG), will work with local authorities and industry on regulatory issues concerning shale projects.
“SERG will bring the regulators [currently the OGA, Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency] together [to] act as one, coherent, single face for local authorities and industry,” the OGA said.
