The government of Ghana has contracted two Chinese companies to build Africa’s first floating LNG import project at the port of Tema, paving the way for completion in late 2019. 

Although the development bodes well for Ghana’s estimated gas demand scenarios, the unexplained dropping of two competing schemes highlights the continuing lack of coordination between government energy bodies, and increases the risks for potential investors in the country.
