China is working on a plan to replace as many as 1 million heavy-duty diesel trucks in the northern half of the country with vehicles that can run on electricity, LNG or less-polluting grades of diesel by 2020, Reuters reported on Thursday.

Proposals for phasing out diesel trucks are being considered by the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
