The arrival of LNG in Bangladesh has allowed three gas-fired power plants in the country to restart, the Dhaka Tribune reported Khaiz Ahmed Mazumder, managing director of the Karnaphuli Gas Distribution, as saying.

Two power plants in Shikalbaha and another in Raozan have restarted, adding 575 MW of capacity to the grid.

Households are still facing gas shortages, however, and Bangladesh is likely to need additional LNG import capacity to resolve the problem.
