The Malaysian state of Sabah will look into taking greater authority over its oil and gas operations by following in the steps of its neighbour Sarawak, according to Free Malaysia Today.

Chief Minister Shafie Apdal said he will request that the state attorney general investigate the matter.

The government could require companies seeking to explore for oil and gas in Sabah be licensed by the state rather than the federal government.
