The developer of a proposed 2 mtpa LNG terminal at the port of Tema in Ghana has signed a construction agreement with China Harbour Engineering, Ghana News Agency reported on Sunday.

The facility, expected to be completed in 18 months at a cost of more than $350 million, will be sub-Saharan Africa’s first LNG terminal.

Ghana National Petroleum Corp. agreed in May to buy 1.7 mtpa of LNG from Russia’s Rosneft for 12 years.
