South Africa aims to build 8.1 GW of new gas-fired generation capacity by 2030. The government is silent on where the feedstock will come from, but statements by South African Energy Minister Jeff Radebe suggest the country is still chasing the unlikely dream of importing gas by pipeline from the Rovuma Basin in Mozambique.
