Despite Gazprom’s repeated claims that gas from the Turkish Stream pipeline will reach the European gas hub at Baumgarten in Austria, little progress has been made in bolstering links between Hungary and Austria to facilitate the additional gas flows. 

In contrast, the transmission system operators (TSOs) of Serbia, Hungary and Bulgaria have taken tangible steps towards building a pipeline through the Balkans, which has been dubbed South Stream Lite.
