A corruption scandal in Indonesia has seen nine people arrested in relation to contracts awarded for a $900 million coal-fired power plant, according to Mongabay.

The scandal could have far-reaching consequences for the coal sector, which is unpopular because of its environmental impact.

Perusahaan Listrik Negara, the state-owned utility responsible for sanctioning the project, has suspended work on the plant in response to the arrests.
