Four of Japan’s nuclear power companies have signed an agreement that will see them cooperate on the main issues facing the industry, Reuters has reported.

The issues include decommissioning old reactors but could also extend to building and maintaining plants, according to recent reports by the Nikkei newspaper. The four companies are Tepco, Hitachi, Toshiba and Chubu Electric Power.

Japan’s nuclear power companies have struggled to restart reactors in the wake of the Fukushima disaster and will work to speed up the process.
