New York-based private equity giant New Fortress Energy has secured a contract for the development, construction and operation of an LNG terminal in the port of Pichilingue in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.

The company said in a statement last week that it was awarded the contract by regional authorities following a tender on 19 July.

The gas will be consumed locally, according to the company.
