A World Trade Organization (WTO) panel has rejected most complaints made by Russia against EU gas laws, with the notable exeception of its claim about EU priority gas projects.

In a ruling last week, the WTO supported Russia’s claim the EU’s Trans-European Networks – Energy (TEN-E) regulation is inconsistent with provisions under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994 (GATT 1994). It said the criteria used to select Projects of Common Interest (PCIs) were discriminatory against Russian gas.
