International container line Hapag-Lloyd is converting one of its vessels to run on LNG and installing emissions reduction technology in two others as it tests ways of complying with the stricter controls on sulphur in marine fuels that will be introduced by the International Maritime Organisation in 2020, the company said in its Q2 earnings results last week.

Hapag-Lloyd has a fleet of 226 container ships and burned 2.2 mt of bunker fuel in H1 2018.
