Vietnam could face power shortages during the 2020s as its demand for electricity is expected to grow by 8-8.5% per year over the decade, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Hoang Quoc Vuong said at the Vietnam Energy Forum, according to Vietnam Plus.

The country is looking to gas projects to counter expected shortfalls by 2022, with projects in development at O Mon, Dung Quat and Chu Lai. These need to come online on schedule to avoid shortages.
