Beijing is interested in building a pipeline that would link China to the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) pipeline, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing Mobin Saulat, chief executive of Pakistan’s state-owned Inter State Gas Systems.

The TAPI spur would be an alternative to a fourth Central Asia-China Pipeline (CACP).

“With this channel, there is a possibility they don’t have to do another [CACP] and they can offtake from this pipeline which is passing through Pakistan,” said Saulat.
