Last week’s joint trade statement by the EU and United States has opened the door for more European funding for gas infrastructure as Brussels bids to increase LNG imports from North America. 

US LNG is more expensive than Russian piped gas, which means volumes imported to Western Europe from the US are likely to stay moderate, at least in the short-to-medium term.
