The recent acquisition of Greek transmission system operator (TSO) DESFA by a consortium led by Italy’s Snam is good news for Greece’s gas-for-transport sector. 

Snam signed the agreement for the acquisition of a 66% share in DESFA on 20 July. It won the tender last April with an offer of €535 million ($626 million) in conjunction with fellow European TSOs Spain’s Enagás and Belgium’s Fluxys.
