South Korea will buy 1,000 hydrogen-powered buses to be delivered by 2022, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Ungyu has said, according to The Korea Herald.
The energy ministry said it would allow the installation of a reformer to convert natural gas to hydrogen in key districts.
The buses will be deployed in Seoul and Ulsan from next year.
The government is also developing operational standards for moveable charging stations to meet hydrogen demand at low cost.
