India has started to invest more in renewable energy than in fossil fuel generation for the first time, according to the International Energy Agency

India has started to invest more in renewable energy than in fossil fuel generation for the first time, according to the International Energy Agency’s Energy Investment 2018 report.

Renewables accounted for more than one-third of India’s power sector investment in 2017, at nearly $20 billion. Meanwhile, investment in power projects using coal, gas and oil amounted to $16 billion.
