Mexico Pacific, a joint venture between DKRW Energy and AECOM Capital, plans to build an LNG plant in Mexico’s northwestern state of Sonora that would source gas from the United States, according to an export licence application filed recently with the US Department of Energy.

The project has a proposed capacity of up to 12 mtpa and would be located on a site in Puerto Libertad that will allow shipments to reach Asia without going through the Panama Canal.
