Bangladesh’s Summit Group, Japan’s Mitsubishi and United States-based GE will jointly invest $3 billion on an LNG import and gas-to-power project in Bangladesh.

This represents the largest foreign direct investment in the country to date, Summit said on Wednesday.

The project will comprise two LNG storage tanks with a combined capacity of 380,000 cubic metres, four 600 MW combined-cycle power plants powered by GE’s flagship 9HA gas turbines, and oil terminals with a total capacity of 100,000 tons.
