A recently proposed climate law in the Netherlands would set a legally binding target of to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 95% compared with 1990 levels by 2050.

The government has also proposed an interim target of a 49% cut by 2030 and a target of 100% carbon-neutral electricity by 2050.

The draft law still needs to be approved by the parliament.
