Power generation in Turkey

Despite an increase in gas demand for power generation in 2017, the outlook for gas-to-power in Turkey looks uncertain as there are a number of new coal-fired plants coming online.

Lower levels of hydropower output contributed to a year-on-year increase in gas-to-power use in Turkey in 2017. However, it remains uncertain if this is a lasting trend, partly because of a roll-out of new coal-fired plants to meet an anticipated increase in demand.
