China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) is looking to invest in gas and wind power projects in the UK, Zheng Dongshan, chief executive of the state-owned company’s British unit, told the South China Morning Post.

“In Britain, we aim to become an important and reliable developer, operator and builder of clean energy projects,” said Zheng. He added that CGN could one day reach the scale of EDF, the UK’s largest power generator.

CGN holds a 33.5% stake in EDF’s £18 billion ($23.7 billion)
