New research by the Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) has revealed the country could face a gas supply shortfall of 82 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d) by 2020, Nigerian newspaper The Nation has reported.

Under a base-case supply scenario based on ongoing and planned gas projects, Nigeria will have 133 MMcm/d of supply that year while demand will reach 215 MMcm/d.

The report identified seven projects on which work needs to start immediately to bridge the supply gap, including five pipelines.
