Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) has been awarded a contract to build a pipeline in the Northern Territory by Newmont Mining Corp., according to AGIG.

The contract will see AGIG build, own and operate the 440-km pipeline, which is expected to cost around $170 million. It will transport gas to Newmont’s Tanami mine sites, which are about 540 km northwest of Alice Springs.

The pipeline will connect with the existing Amadeus pipeline. Construction of the pipeline is expected to be completed in Q1 2019.
