China’s apparent gas consumption increased by 17.8% year on year in May, to 22.5 billion cubic metres, the National Development and Reform Commission said on Friday.

Apparent consumption refers to domestic production and imports minus exports and storage injections. The country produced 12.6 bcm of gas, an increase of 5.9% on an annual basis, while imports amounted to 10.2 bcm, an increase of 36.7%.
