The Transmission Company of Nigeria has stated that up to 1.1 GW of generation capacity went offline last week after a gas pipeline ruptured and technical problems were experienced at gas wells operated by Shell.

Nigeria’s The Nation newspaper reported that load-shedding took place nationwide on 15-16 June to stabilise the grid.

Shell and Nigeria Gas Co., which owns the affected pipeline, have now restored flows.
