Greece hopes to become a regional LNG bunkering and distribution hub through the Poseidon Med II project, China’s official Xinhua news agency reported on Sunday.
The €53.3 million ($62.7 million) project, which is receiving EU funding, aims to roll out the extensive adoption of LNG bunkering in Greece, Italy and Cyprus.
The project will involve six ports: Venice in Italy; Limassol in Cyprus; and Piraeus, Patra, Iraklio and Igoumenitsa in Greece. It also involves the LNG terminal on Revithoussa island offshore Athens.
