Bangladesh earmarks nearly $3 bln for power and energy over 2018-2019

Bangladesh’s Finance Ministry has allocated BDT 249 billion ($2.9 billion) for the development of the power and energy sector in its 2018-2019 budget, according to Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star.

This is 2.7% more than was available in last year’s budget. The country’s gas production hit 77.9 million cubic metres (MMcm) this year, up from 49.4 MMcm in 2009.
