Mexican oil output could return to 2 million barrels per day (MMb/d) by around 2022 if the next government continues reforms to open up the industry to private investors, Energy Minister Pedro Joaquin Coldwell said on Tuesday.

Mexico has a general election on 1 July, and Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the front-runner in opinion polls, has threatened to delay opening up the energy sector to private investment.
