Baltic Sea adds more small-scale LNG facilities

Since January 2015, vessels operating in the Baltic Sea have been bound by a 0.1% limit on sulphur in fuel oil set by the International Maritime Organization. The measure has triggered the construction of several small-scale LNG facilities in the area, many of which are wholly dedicated to bunkering services. These include the Hirtshals LNG terminal in northern Denmark, operated by a ferry line, and two unmoored bunkering vessels that offer ship-to-ship refuelling services across the Baltic Sea.
