Algeria has hired US law firm Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle and other consultants to help design a new energy law aimed at attracting IOC investment, Sonatrach told reporters, according to Reuters.

Progress developing a new oil and gas law has been slow because of competing ideas within the Algerian government, and a disagreement about the degree to which the country should be open to foreign investment and ownership.
