PetroChina’s Southwest Oil and Gas Field subsidiary will start building two underground gas storage (UGS) depots in southwest China’s Chongqing municipality this year, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday.

The facilities, which will cost a combined RMB 5.3 billion ($825.7 million), will be located in Tongluoxia and Huangcaoxia. They will be able to supply a combined 1.28 billion cubic metres per year of gas once completed in 2022.
