NNPC generated 76% of Nigeria’s electricity in 2017

Nigeria’s gas-fired power plants generated 2.81 GWh per day of electricity between January 2017 and January 2018, Nigerian National Petroleum Corp. (NNPC) has announced.

This accounted for 76% of the country’s power output during the period. Nigerian newspaper ThisDay reported that NNPC supplied an average of 30.5 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d) of gas to the domestic market during 2017. Of this, 19.1 MMcm/d, equivalent to 62%, went to the power sector.
